This two-day event will focus

on how to use your voice

The summit will feature workshops led by local BIPOC leaders, interactive activities, and sessions on personal development, social justice, leadership, self-care, and community care. The summit aims to inspire youth to become proactive agents of change in their communities. Over the course of two days we provide youth lunch, swag bags, prizes, and community:

Speaker/Workshop Preview

  • Sky Wilson (he/him) from Wilson Family Martial Arts

    Be prepared for an inspiration and surprising session from community champion Sky Wilson. A friend of the Youth Summits, this individual has a unique perspective that will surprise.

  • Lester Griffin, the 2025 Val Joshua Award Recipient

    Lester Griffin graced the main stage at YWCA Clark County’s largest event in March and he returns to the BIPOC Youth Summit for an exclusive workshop. This community leader operates a nonprofit and is a key mentor in SW Washington for area youth.

  • Rashan Wiliiams, Shifted Theory

    If you’re a BIPOC teen in Southwest Washington and you haven’t heard of Shifted Theory, you’re in for a treat. This dynamic space is a magnet for youth empowerment.

  • Dr. Amrita Stark

    This community advocate will host a workshop entitled: Joy, Justice and Health: How to care and advocate for your health and the health of your community .

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Safety is our number one priority and we want to ensure all of our attendees can feel safe while enjoying the summit. Location information will be shared with all who register prior to the summit.

  • Transportation options for the summit:

    • C-Tran is available (under 19 can ride C-TRAN Local services for free. Operators may request to see ID for those who appear older than 18. A valid student photo ID, state issued photo ID or Youth Hop photo ID can be used to verify age.)

    • We are also working with community partners that may be able to facilitate transportation from designated spots.

    • When registering, please indicate if transportation is a barrier for you to attend.

    • Event will be within Vancouver city limits. Location to be shared upon registration.

  • We need volunteers for the BIPOC Youth Summit. If you’re interested please reach out to Sam Garrison, BIPOC Youth Outreach Coordinator.

  • Each year, the Prevention teen curates speakers and breakout room facilitators. This year, in 2024, we’ve confirmed 12 speakers. If you are interested in speaking please reach out to Sam Garrison.

  • The Prevention team does coordinate with local vendors to meet the food needs of the events for all participants. Please email Sam Garrison for any additional questions. There are refrigerators in the Community Room space you can use if you prefer or need to bring your own sack lunch.

  • Currently, we do not require attendees to bring parents to the BIPOC Youth Summit. This is a space that allows for youth to build community connections, enhance peer relationships, and explore cultural identity.
