Inspiring Change: Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Visual notes outlining the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence (WSCADV)'s Theory of ChangeOctober is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time when we come together to highlight the issue of domestic violence and work towards creating a world where all people can live and love freely without fear. At YWCA Clark County, this year’s awareness campaign is inspired by the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence’s (WSCADV) powerful Theory of Change, which aims to transform a culture rooted in violence to one rooted in liberation and justice. What is WSCADV’s Theory of Change?WSCADV’s Theory of Change is a visual representation of the path they are following to create the changes they seek. It centers on the idea that violence is used to control groups, communities, and individuals and seeks to address this problem through three key building blocks: economic justice, racial equity, and gender and reproductive liberation. Our Events and Social Media CampaignIn alignment with WSCADV’s Theory of Change, our agency has organized a series of events throughout Domestic Violence Awareness Month to foster awareness, education, and community support. We believe that by coming together, we can make a meaningful impact and contribute to the broader mission of ending domestic violence. Throughout Domestic Violence Awareness Month, our social media campaign is dedicated to shedding light on each vital element of the Theory of Change. Join us during Week 1 (Racial Justice), Week 2 (Economic Justice), Week 3 (Gender and Reproductive Justice), and Week 4 (Community Care) as we share compelling statistics about domestic violence, spotlight our SafeChoice and Prevention Programs, showcase our events throughout the month, and celebrate the invaluable contributions of our community partners.
