YWCA Clark County calls all individuals to join us in taking a Stand Against Racism on Thursday, April 26th from 4:30-5:30pm at Warehouse 23 in Vancouver, WA. Stand Against Racism is a national movement designed to unite our communities in a bold demonstration that delivers a clear message: we are on a mission to eliminate racism.Hosted by the Women’s Leadership Center of YWCA Clark County, our local event brings a panel of state representatives and candidates from Oregon and Washington to Vancouver to discuss the importance of full engagement for women and girls of color in the political process. “Despite outpacing other groups in college education, leading social progress in their communities, and often being the primary breadwinner in their households, women of color are consistently underrepresented in positions of leadership. We hope this event will inspire others and provide helpful tools for our community to change that.” said event organizer, Angela Westbrooks.From Thursday through Sunday, events are anticipated in nearly every state across the country including public policy advocacy, community education, and public proclamations. Here in Clark County we will host an impressive panel of women including:

• Tanisha Harris, Washington 17th LD State Representative Candidate
• Rep. Tawna Sanchez, Oregon 43rd District Representative
• Rep. Monica Stonier, Washington 49th District Representative

The panel discussion will be facilitated by Dr. Loretta Capeheart, Associate Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Clark College. Participants in YWCA’s Stand Against Racism range from schoolchildren to elected officials, from executives of large corporations to church leaders, and many others.
