Community Tragedy Means Urgent Support Needed for Those Facing Domestic Violence

YWCA Clark County Chief Executive Officer Brittini Lasseigne issues the following statement after a man killed his wife, adult daughters, and brother in an apparent murder-suicide in Vancouver, Washington.“We are devasted by the heartbreaking tragedy that occurred this past weekend. We cannot adequately express the sorrow and shock we feel in the face of such senseless violence.” Abuse can manifest in different ways, and is not always evident. Abusers use many forms to instill fear, gain power, and take control of their partner’s life. Many individuals in abusive situations can feel isolated and financially dependent on their abusers. YWCA Clark County has support services in place to help break the cycle of violence and offer a lifeline to increase people’s safety. However, our demand for services is high, and we urgently need the community’s financial assistance.
